Dallas is the 9th largest city in the U.S. and the 3rd largest in Texas. Dallas attracts 22.5 million visitors per year, adding to the 68.4 million who visit the Metroplex each year. The Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Metroplex consists of 11 counties and considered to be a hub for North Texas for economic and cultural affiliations.

As of 2022, Dallas is home to 23 Fortune 500 companies in industries including banking, insurance, telecommunications, technology, transportation and medical research. In 2020, DFW was noted as the 36th best metropolitan area for STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) professionals in the United States.
It includes 9,286 square miles covering both land and water. It overlooks mostly prairie land with several rolling hills and a few man-made lakes. Summers are hot and humid, and winters are cool to mild with cold spells occurring at times.
Dallas is the number 1 destination for visitors to Texas. Dallas is home to several professional sports teams and has over 200 golf courses. The State Fair of Texas mascot, “Big Tex”, is the tallest cowboy in Texas at 52 feet. The Dallas Arts District is the largest urban arts district in the U.S. One of the original copies of the Declaration of Independence, printed on July 4, 1776, is permanently displayed at the Dallas Public Library.
In 2016, the Dallas Arboretum was included in the Architectural Digest’s “list of the world’s 15 most breathtaking botanic gardens.” It also earned 3 stars and ‘” worth a trip” rating from Michelin Guides. It was especially noted that the art deco buildings at Fair Park are a “hidden gem”.
